Wyndham Clarke wins US Open for first major, Rory McIlroy second

Wyndham Clark captured his first U.S. Open title on Sunday at The Los Angeles Country Club.

Clark edged out Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler after he had taken a one-shot lead on the tournament’s final day heading into the back nine.

Clark, 29, had been playing in just the seventh major of his career and had begun the round tied atop the leaderboard at 10 under with Rick Fowler.

Clark had gone into the tournament chasing his first career major title.
