South Africa’s foreign ministry has hit out at travel bans imposed by other countries in response to the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
In a statement on social media, a South African government official claimed the latest round of travel bans were “akin to punishing South Africa for its advanced genomic sequencing” in a strong criticism of the global efforts to contain the variant.
