Michigan’s Blake Corum is giving back this Thanksgiving.
One day after the Wolverines topped Maryland, 31-24, the senior running back handed out turkeys to those in need across three different locations, including Ypsilanti, Mich.
Corum used his NIL money to purchase 600 turkeys, according to reports, in what is the third year he has run the event before Thanksgiving.
“This is my purpose, man,” Corum said, according to M Live. “Just getting my mind sometimes away from football, away from stress and anxiety. Football, it does a lot. Being able to step away and just be a part of the community and see people smile and be out here, it’s a blessing.”
It appears Corum — whose NIL valuation from On3 Sports is $854,400 — wants to continue the tradition after his time at Michigan comes to an end, with his father telling Ann Arbon News the event will go on next year, when the 22-year-old is projected to be in the NFL.
In Saturday’s win over Maryland, Corum took 28 handoffs for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
Through his senior season so far, he has tallied 180 rushing attempts for 888 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per carry, and 20 touchdowns — the most of his career.
Across his four years as a Wolverine, Corum has recorded 597 rushing attempts across 3,380 yards for 51 touchdowns.
His skills will be much needed in Michigan’s highly anticipated matchup against Ohio State on Saturday.
Both Michigan and Ohio Stead lead the Big Ten East division with records of 11-0.
Michigan will be without head coach Jim Harbaugh on the sideline after accepting a three-game suspension amid the program’s sign-stealing scandal.
