Newstalk ZB reporter Joey Dwyer says it will be a “big day” for the tourism industry when New Zealand reopens to foreign travellers next year.
“It’s going to be a three-staged approach,” he told Sky News Australia.
He said on January 16, fully vaccinated residents and visa holders in Australia can come home and on February 13, fully vaccinated residents from all other countries can do the same.
“On April 30th – this is the big one, fully vaccinated travellers from any country, no matter where you are, can come here without the need to go through MIQ,” he said.
“That will mean our international tourist market will come back to New Zealand – so that will be a big day for the tourism industry in five months’ time.”
