From tomorrow, UK Conservative members will start to receive ballot papers to cast their vote for the next party leader.

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has received the backing of some high-profile figures over the weekend, striding ahead of her opponent, former chancellor Rishi Sunak, as both candidates begin their final policy push.

Mr Sunak said he would charge patients 10 pounds if they repeatedly fail to turn up to their NHS appointments without notice as the health sector faces a crisis.

Supporters say it would be a temporary measure to help with post-COVID-19 pressures.

Ms Truss wants to widen access to elite universities, saying they should automatically invite all top-grade students to apply.
