Charlie Manuel is on the road to recovery and wants to thank all those who are wishing him well and helping him bounce back after suffering a stroke on Saturday.

The former Phillies manager posted a short statement Tuesday evening on X, three days after his medical emergency while undergoing an unspecified procedure in Florida.

“I want to thank all the people who are pulling for me. I am touched that you are showing me love,” Manuel wrote. “And I want to thank @LKLDRegional Critical Care team for hustling and being on time. You have kept me in the game.”

The Phillies announced the news of his stroke on Saturday and noted medical staff immediately treated Manuel for his stroke and removed a blood clot.

The news was even better on Sunday when the team announced it received a “positive update” from Manuel’s wife, Missy, noting doctors were encouraged by the 79-year-old’s progress.

Health problems are nothing new for Manuel, who’s also had a heart attack, an infected colon and kidney cancer.

Manuel managed the Phillies from 2005 to 2013, leading the club in 2008 to its second-ever World Series title in franchise history.

He brought Philadelphia back to the World Series in 2009 but lost in six games to the Yankees.

Manuel had a previous three-year run as Cleveland’s manager from 2000 to 2002 and retired with exactly 1,000 career wins as a big-league skipper.

Manuel was inducted into the Phillies’ Wall of Fame in 2014 and rejoined the team that year as a senior adviser to the general manager.

He made a brief return to the dugout in 2019 as interim hitting coach after the club fired John Mallee.
