An arrest warrant has been issued for former Jets first-round pick Darron Lee after he missed a court date stemming from domestic violence and assault charges filed this past April.
Lee, 28, was arrested in Ohio in April and was accused of beating both his own mother and the mother of his son.
The mother of Lee’s child called Dublin, Ohio police in April to report the ex-Jet linebacker was assaulting his mother.
The woman told police she was downstairs and heard screaming from the upstairs floor, and when she went to check it out she saw Lee standing over his mother with a closed fist.
From the hospital, the mother said her son had punched her “eight to nine times” in the head.
While Lee was being investigated for this incident, separate allegations from an incident with the mother of his child from last October emerged.
In this alleged incident, Lee was accused of throwing a phone at a woman “which struck her head, causing her ear to bleed, grabbing her neck while punching the pillow beside her head, causing red marks to her neck.”
According to court records cited by WBNS in Columbus, Lee had suspected the woman of cheating on him.
ABC 6 first reported that a warrant for Lee’s arrest for missing a court hearing was issued in Franklin County, Ohio.
Lee was selected by the Jets 20th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, and appeared in 40 games, with 36 starts, as a linebacker in three seasons.
He would later spend a season with the Chiefs in 2019 and appear in two games for the Bills in 2020.
Lee starred at Ohio State, and was a member of the Buckeyes’ 2014 national championship team.
